Project Liadlaw

The EIM Assistance Program evolved and became a component of the Foundation’s solar energization project for off-grid school and remote schools, which was named Project Liadlaw after a local ancient deity. Project Liadlaw is Vivant Foundation’s contribution to nationwide efforts to improve learning in remote island schools that have no electricity.

Under Project Liadlaw, Vivant Foundation partnered with the Department of Education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to develop an upgraded version of the EIM curriculum to incorporate solar technology. The idea behind developing the EIM-Solar curriculum was to ensure the sustainability of the solar energization project at the partner off-grid school. EIM-Solar students, with the supervision of their teachers, can conduct basic maintenance and repairs of the solar energy installation at the off-grid school as part of their hands-on training.

Upgrading the technical-vocational EIM track with the incorporation of solar technology also provides senior high school graduates the knowledge and skills they need to find employment in the energy of the future. And in the Philippines, an archipelago of more than 7,100 islands, solar energy is certainly the most viable renewable option available.
